Marvin Ekpiteta apologizes for old homophobic tweets after Daniels coming out

Jack Daniel’s after his major coming out has received a public apology from his club mate Ekpiteta

Last Monday, English Blackpool club striker Jake Daniels (17) came out, becoming the only footballer still active who is openly gay. And following this coming out, his teammate, defender Marvin Ekpiteta (26) publicly apologized last Tuesday for old homophobic tweets.

English football striker Jake Daniels, coming out

“I want to wholeheartedly apologise for the offensive and completely inappropriate language I used, and for the sentiments I expressed. As a footballer, and in the years spent in work, before I became a professional player, I’ve been fortunate to have worked with a wide and diverse range of people. Throughout this period, I have developed and grown as a person. Yesterday, I was proud of Jake and all involved at Blackpool FC for what is a hugely positive moment for football as a whole. I am embarrassed by the comments I made as a 17-year-old, nearly a decade ago, which do not in any way reflect the values I hold now or the beliefs I have as a person or as a team-mate. Football needs to be a place where everyone can feel free to be true to themselves, and I am upset that the comments I previously made suggest otherwise. I take full responsibility for these posts, and I am sorry”.

REDEMPTION DAYS is a novel with rainbow colors

Jake Daniels’ response was not delayed: ”What you wrote when you were 17 does not define the man you are now. I want to tell you that I am proud to be your teammate. Together, we are all making progress in soccer.”

The United States. A group of friends and an association that cultivates ethnic discrimination, racial superiority, and the fight against any diversity as essential pillars of its doctrine. These are the main elements of this multi-faceted novel, at times raw and hard, far from pity and useless turns of phrase, in which extreme fanaticism leads a father to desire the evil of his homosexual son, to the point of acting personally for the annihilation of this inclination. Yet “REDEMPTION DAYS” is not a novel that takes away space for hope, the same feeling that will take possession of the protagonist’s page after page, directing them to arrive very differently from the departure, a goal in which ideas change, the true virtues emerge, evil and perversions are finally removed, to achieve so, in different ways, their individual redemption.
