Florida governor signs homophobic 'Don't Say Gay' law

The Republican Governor of the State of Florida finally signed the much-discussed law banning LGBT+ rights

There was no chance of a last-minute change of course, let alone a conversion on the road to Damascus by the Governor of Florida. Ron DeSantis had made no secret of his support for the much-discussed and homophobic ‘Don’t Say Gay’ law, and with his signature it became Florida state law.

San Marino, Paolo Rondelli is the first gay Head of State

The ‘Don’t Say Gay’ law prohibits all state schools from discussing any sexual orientation other than the ‘official’ one, i.e., heterosexuality. In practice, – according to the law’s promoters—the ‘Don’t Say Gay’ law should protect all parents who do not like homosexuality and LGBT+ civil rights being discussed in the schools their children attend. Too, it will allow these parents to sue school districts that do not conform to the new ‘heterosexual’ line of the State of Florida.

Not only that, in fact, this law also affects teachers who now risk being fired if they omit any student behaviour not in line with the doctrine of heterosexuality. And so, once again, it is LGBT+ youth who will be the ones to pay the price and once again fall victim to the wave of state homophobia that is hitting the post-Trump United States of America.

The United States. A group of friends and an association that cultivates ethnic discrimination, racial superiority, and the fight against any diversity as essential pillars of its doctrine. These are the main elements of this multi-faceted novel, at times raw and hard, far from pity and useless turns of phrase, in which extreme fanaticism leads a father to desire the evil of his homosexual son, to the point of acting personally for the annihilation of this inclination. Yet “REDEMPTION DAYS” is not a novel that takes away space for hope, the same feeling that will take possession of the protagonist’s page after page, directing them to arrive very differently from the departure, a goal in which ideas change, the true virtues emerge, evil and perversions are finally removed, to achieve so, in different ways, their individual redemption.
