India ready to say ‘yes’ to marriage equality

It has not yet been confirmed but India may soon approve same-sex marriages

In India, the Supreme Court is preparing to issue the final verdict on the numerous petitions seeking legal recognition of same-sex marriage.

According to the latest polls, about 57% of the Indian population has declared itself in favor of recognizing marriage equality and if the ruling of the Indian Supreme Court were to be in favor, it would be a historic turning point for the entire country.

The government led by Narendra Modi, at first had spoken out against petitions asking for legal recognition of same-sex marriage and then made a small opening in favor.
