United States first passport with third gender

After Australia, New Zealand, Nepal and Canada, the United States of America will also have a third gender in its documents

The United States of America has made a historic breakthrough with the introduction of an ‘X’ under the heading ‘gender’ to replace the classic ‘male’ and ‘female’. This choice will be available on all passports from early 2022 and will be reserved for all those people who do not identify with the ‘male’ and ‘female’ genders.

” When a person obtains identity documents that reflect their true identity, they live with greater dignity and respect” – Jessica Stern US Special Diplomat for LGBTQ Rights –

Although it will officially start next year, the US State Department has already granted the first passport with the third voice, although the identity has not been disclosed, although many speculate that it could be Dana Zzyym, an intersex woman who in 2015 sued the State Department to have her gender recognized on her passport.

”I want to reaffirm, on the occasion of the issuance of this passport, the State Department’s commitment to promoting the freedom, dignity and equality of all people, including those in the LGBTQI community” – Ned Price Spokesman for the US State Department –
